Mostly theological in content. Also includes: letter from Henry 'Smith' to his son, undated; notes of sermons preached by W. Daniell at Norwich, 1621, by William Lucy, bishop of St David's, at Royston, 20 Oct. 1622, and by James Ussher, archbishop of Armagh, at Wanstead, 20 June 1624 (first printed 1624). Also includes sermons in the hand of Samuel Knight DD, prebend of Ely (? 1678-1746) in pages originally left blank.

In several cases the date the sermon was delivered is given at the conclusion: (P. i) 'The Sermons in this book are but short notes out of others wrote at large in quarto', in the hand of T. Clutterbuck. There is also an entry concerning Clutterbuck's birth; (p. ii) autobiographical notes in the hand of T. Clutterbuck; (p. iv) 'J. Raine York, March 19, 1862.
